The Finished Renovation // Casa Lovely

I can’t believe I neglected to ever share the end of our remodel! Seeing as how we were remodeling the entire time I was pregnant with Maggie and we finished just a couple of weeks before she was born, I feel like I get a pass. But nonetheless, I wanted to share some photos of the finished product. We still have one more phase to go, in which we’ll add a bathroom to the master bedroom, but that’s probably down the line a bit. For now, the main portion of the house is all new and we couldn’t be happier. So read on for some before and after photos (because you know I love a good before and after!).
KITCHEN BEFORE

KITCHEN AFTER
We had a really narrow space in the kitchen, and it was closed off from the rest of the house. So we widened it a bit, knocked out a wall so that there’s a breakfast bar between kitchen and dining room, and renewed all the finishings. Cabinets, tile, and appliances all got a refresh. And we added the legendary leaf wallpaper. 🙂

Someday we’ll get a dreamy kitchen table, but not until the kids are grown enough to not trash it. So for now we’ll stick with what we have there.
DINING ROOM BEFORE

DINING ROOM AFTER
The old space had a two-living-area situation, which was confusing. We sort of used this space as a family room and the other space as a formal living room. I loved the fireplace but in California you can barely burn wood any more, so we took it out and replaced it with a wall of cabinetry and a buffet top.
As a side note, the photo above was taken before we decided to paint the brick fireplace white. Here’s an after photo!
The storage, oh the storage! It’s a dream. We also were longing for a space where our whole family could sit at once when we’re all together so we got a massive dining table and have already used it at least a dozen times. I love being able to welcome everyone so easily. The breakfast bar looks into the kitchen, which I love too.

LIVING ROOM BEFORE

LIVING ROOM AFTER
We had an awkward walled-in sunporch that was totally unused space off the living and dining room. So we raised the floor and incorporated it into the house, which is why we had space for the larger dining room and now have some extra play space in the living room. We wanted to replace the painted fireplace that we ripped out, so we added a gas insert. We also added a little shelving and a media area, and otherwise just left a nice large, open space.

THE NEW STUDIO
I shared more of these images here, but I wanted to include them in this post as well! The studio was our old garage that we converted into our workspace. We also converted the attached 1/2 bath into a full studio bathroom.

TA-DAAAAA! That’s it. It feels so good to be in a home that’s exactly what we want. Feels like a forever home. I started to include sources for everything pictured and got all bogged down and way too stressed out, so if you need a source for anything you see just leave comment and I’ll get back to ya! xoxo
